For my Fall 2016 graduate thesis within the Master of Arts in Sustainable Design (MASD) program at Minneapolis College of Art & Design (MCAD), I focused on exploring a design for a marketing and educational exhibit called "The Integrated Living Home". The intent for the exhibit was to showcase and explain the Integrated Living Home in such a way that target users (25-40 year-old IKEA shopping homeowners and builders in the Midwest) would become convinced that this kind of home should be the new standard for the housing industry in the Midwest.
This is a house I worked on as a test case for applying the Living Building Challenge criteria to a design of a home that is able to grow over time from a single studio apartment to a large family or multi-family dwelling.
